Blaine's residents enjoy neighborhoods that are safe in many regards. Our police officers work hard to maintain this sense of well being.
In 2006 the community enjoyed a dip in the amount of criminal activity in several areas. However in the first half of 2007 criminal activity returned and passed prior levels in some categories: there were many more thefts and more assaults. By comparison, Blaine's crime rate (crimes per thousand people) was about five percent lower than the Whatcom County Average for the first half of 2006. For the first half of 2007 however, our crime rate was about five percent higher than that average.
An excellent source of statewide crime information are the Uniform Crime Reports maintained by the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs. Generally police activity is divided into Events, Crimes, and citation activity.
More detailed information on Blaine's activity is provided in the "Incidents Handled" and "Serious Crimes" tabs to your left.
