More big changes in store at the former airport site

At Blaine’s City Council meeting on September 9, City Councilmembers voted unanimously to authorize City Manager Michael Jones to sign a purchase and sale agreement with Family Care Network (FCN) on behalf of the City. FCN will be building a new medical center on the property, including an outpatient family medicine clinic, a medical laboratory, and an urgent care center.

“Our goal with the Gateway development has always been to stimulate economic growth and improve livability for local residents,” says City Manager Michael Jones. “These final two property deals have helped us reach this milestone.”

On September 12 at a Special City Council meeting, Jones presented a draft purchase and sale agreement to City Councilmembers, who voted to authorize Jones to enter into the agreement with Boise, Idaho-based White-Leasure Development Company. White-Leasure has plans to develop a commercial center on the property with an undetermined mix of tenants.

Both agreements have been signed, which fills the two last remaining pieces of the Gateway parcel. The City-owned Gateway property is approximately 28.4 acres of fully serviced, flat, prime commercial, industrial, manufacturing and warehouse property within the Blaine City limits in an ideal location with easy access to Interstate 5.

“Our goal with the Gateway development has always been to stimulate economic growth and improve livability for local residents,” says City Manager Michael Jones. “These final two property deals have helped us reach this milestone.”
